Assessment Centre Manager - a complete solution!

Introduction to Assessment Centre Manager - Version 2.0

Assessment Centre Manager and its companion program, Data Centre, are designed to help HR personnel and assessment specialists with the entire process of setting up and running an assessment or development centre.

Assessment Centre Manager allows you to plan the entire design and timetabling of an assessment centre in less than one hour, saving what would normally be days and even weeks of work. Data Centre allows you to collect assessment data on-site, analyse it and generate professional quality graphical and narrative reports at the touch of a button.

Product Specification

Assessment Centre Manager allows you to:

  • select the assessment dimensions (competencies) for the assessment centre from either the in-built dimensions or the user's own custom dimensions
  • specify the exercises for the assessment centre
  • set up links between exercises and dimensions, specifying which dimensions will be assessed by which exercises
  • plan the detailed timetable for the assessment centre
  • assign individual candidates and assessors to specified activities at specified times
  • assign activities to particular rooms that will be available at the time
  • print out detailed overall timetables
  • print out individual timetables for each candidate and each assessor
  • automatically generate assessors' record forms for each exercise, based on timetable allocations for candidates and assessors
  • create a database of custom dimensions, each with its own description and 'behavioural indicators'
  • create a database of custom exercises

Data Centre allows you to:

  • enter candidates ratings as each exercise is completed
  • include ratings from multiple assessors for each dimension for each exercise
  • enter detailed comments for each candidate on each exercise
  • generate overall assessment centre scores displayed by candidate name or by final ranking
  • optionally apply individual weights to each dimension for use in calculating overall scores
  • generate candidates' average scores for each dimension and each exercise
  • produce professional quality numerical and graphical reports
  • generate narrative reports for selectors, HRD managers and candidates which include detailed results alongside narrative text entered by the user and based upon assessors' observations and comments during the assessment centre
  • generate an Assessor Statistics report showing exercise intercorrelations, dimension intercorrelations and assessor overall rating means, thus enabling users to identify weaknesses in the assessment centre design or in assessment procedures
  • export raw data to several popular data file formats

What's new in Version 2.0

Completely re-designed interface

ACM's screens have now been redesigned to make them clearer and easier to use.

Designs and timetables can now be shared amongst workgoup members

Assessment centre designs are now saved in project files and their associated timetables are saved in timetable files. The project and timetable files for an ACM project can be easily transferred from one installation of ACM to another.

Improved specifications

ACM now allows you to include up to 20 dimensions and 20 exercises in any single assessment centre project. You can also specify up to 20 assessors for inputting of data into Data Centre.

Data Centre can be used independently of Assessment Centre Manager

If you do not wish to use Assessment Centre Manager to design your assessment centres, you can still use Data Centre independently. Data Centre now allows you to create a DataSpec file from within the program itself, rather than relying on DataSpec files created in Assessment Centre Manager

New narrative reports structured around dimensions

Data Centre now provides four different kinds of narrative reports

Feedback Reports:
Organised by Exercise
Organised by Dimension

Selectors Reports:
Organised by Exercise
Organised by Dimension

Built-in exercises removed.

This version of Assessment Centre Manager does not contain built-in exercises. You can now use your own assessment centre exercises without having to incorporate these into Assessment Centre Manager. The various 'document facilities' and the automatic linking of exercises with dimensions from the earlier versions of the program have also been removed since these were concerned principally with the built-in exercises.

Viewing and printing out of raw data

The raw data for each individual exercise can now be printed out as a report.

Merging of data files for simultaneous analysis of up to 200 candidates

Data Centre now allows you to merge the data for up to 200 candidates from several different source data files. This enables you to compare and contrast candidates who have attended the same basic assessment centre but at different times in different groups.

Optional candidate IDs

Candidate IDs can be added to each candidates record in a data file. This is particularly useful for discriminating between similarly named candidates, especially when creating a merge file from several different source data files.

Plus many additional minor improvements

Assessment Centre Manager helps you to increase quality of assessment

Assessment Centre Manager and Data Centre have been designed not only to save a vast amount of time in the setting up and running of an assessment / development centre, but also to help you maintain the highest possible standards of assessment practice.

For example, all assessment dimensions (competencies) which are stored in Assessment Centre Manager's internal database are defined both in terms of a general description and a set of behavioural indicators for that dimension. Once you have set up your assessment centre design, you can generate record forms which will be used by assessors for each specific exercise. Every record form so produced will contain the full description and set of behavioural indicators for each dimension which is to be assessed by that exercise.

This helps to ensure that assessors will assess according to the standard definition of each dimension, rather than according to their own view of what the dimension means (so eliminating one of the most common causes of assessor inconsistency at assessment centres).

Data Centre allows you to generate narrative reports with a minimum of effort

In addition to the numerical and graphical reports which are generated automatically, Data Centre also allows you to create narrative reports (including candidate feedback reports) with the minimum of effort. The narrative text allows you to create text for each heading of the report, while presenting to you the information you need about the candidate's performance. The illustration below shows the narrative text being entered for one particular candidate in relation to the competency 'Creating effective working relationships'. The candidate's scores on this dimension from each exercise in which it was assessed are shown at the left of the screen, along with the candidates overall rating and ranking. In addition, the user can display the assessors' comments for this candidate as a further source of information.

Evaluation Version

You can download an evaluation version of Assessment Centre Manager and Data Centre by clicking on the following link.

Download evaluation copy

When you click on the above link, your browser will ask you whether you want to open the file ACMEVAL.EXE from its current location or save it to disk. Select 'Save to Disk' and then select a suitable location on your hard drive. The file ACMEVAL.EXE is a self-extracting zip file and is approximately 5 MB in size. If you are connected via a modem, therefore, the download may take some time.

To install the programs, do as follows:

  • Double-click on the file ACMEVAL.EXE to open the WinZip self extractor screen.
  • Following the instructions on screen, extract the files to a temporary directory (e.g. C:\ACMTemp).
  • View the temporary directory in Explorer and click on the file SETUP.EXE.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

After the installation is complete, you can then delete the files in the temporary directory
The evaluation version of both programs are slightly restricted, but will allow you to evaluate the programs main facilities. To order the full programs, see the ordering information below.
